Beyond the traditional wired network research, the development of wireless networks has created novel challenges, due to the volatile nature of their connections.

The ad-hoc formation of wireless networks requires the development of new routing and scheduling strategies; vehicular networks compound this problem with very high node velocities; the use of cognition in the establishment of wireless networks calls for the use of cross-layer approaches.

SYTACom researchers tackle issues of practical interest (practical distributed routing strategies, traffic engineering) and theoretical importance (network scaling laws, mobility modeling).
