Wael Jaafar was immersed in an extraordinary setting rich in tradition, culture and technical expertise. Mr. Jaafar, a PhD student at École Polytechnique, spent 3 months at Keio University working in the Ohtsuki Lab where he had the chance to work on a project related to his PhD topic entitled “The Design of Cooperative Communication Schemes for Cognitive Radio Networks”. The investigated issue was to find a non-complex way to reduce the interference caused by the cooperative cognitive system using limited and inaccurate information about the wireless channels. The project was intended to design controlled and quantified power levels for the cognitive system in order to limit the interference.

Novel results have been obtained and the internship was concluded by the preparation of a paper submitted to the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology journal.
